Thak Kim was born with clubfoot - a birth disability causing one or both feet to turn inward or upward. Our programs use the Ponseti method - a non-surgical treatment with a 95% success rate. The process involves a non-invasive procedure to release the Achilles tendon, followed by a series of casts and braces.

Unfortunately, of the 9.8 million people worldwide born with clubfoot, 7.8 million cannot access treatment. When neglected, it leads to a lifetime of painful and highly compromised mobility. This was CoolKid Thak Kim's reality until we met him in 2024 and provided him with his first Ankle-Foot Orthotic (AFO).

Since his first visit, Thak Kim has received over five customized AFOs that have improved his walking, balance, and stability. And with your support, we will continue to provide Thak Kim with the care he needs through the age of 25.

Thak Kim's orthotics help him keep up with his friends at school - he has 10 - and get to his favorite class of the day (math).

Thak Kim is an active kid who is now alway on the move. Your support provides the care he needs to walk, run, jump, and play soccer.

On behalf of Thak Kim and his family, thank you so much.

Estera receives free mobility care at our program with Exceed in Cambodia.

100% of the children we serve will need continued treatment. A growing child needs care, on average, every six months. Join The CoolKids Club with a monthly donation to keep our CoolKids moving — Growing Up ALTSO is mobility for the future. View more CoolKid stories here.
