When we first met Sokny, she was just six years old, yet she already faced a future filled with challenges. Sokny, born with a congenital disability affecting both of her legs, was housebound.
Sokny’s parents, farmers who make a living making charcoal, could not afford the prosthetic limbs she needed to walk, making her only form of mobility crawling or being carried by her parents.
We provided Sokny with two prosthetic limbs, and committed to covering her care as she grew. With your support, we’ve kept that promise.
Now in high school, Sokny is bright, sweet, and has her eyes set on the future. She dreams of attending university and traveling to France.
In her free time, Sokny reads, spends time in nature, and listens to Lana Del Ray.
Sokny’s future is brimming with the transformative opportunities mobility creates, just like every child deserves, because mobility is more than movement, it's a human right.
