After Mihai’s parents both died in the same year - a nightmare that is hard to imagine - his older brothers became caretakers overnight. His eldest brother picks up any odd jobs he can to support his younger brothers.

Mihai attends a boarding school for the blind during the week. Not because Mihai cannot see, but because the school is wheelchair accessible, has a wheelchair he needs to get to and from class, and provides room and board.

But, when we met Mihai, his mobility ended Friday afternoon: he couldn't bring his wheelchair home on public transportation. The buses were inaccessible and the wheelchair was too big.

For very short distances, Mihai can walk with the help of a walker. However, once home, Mihai couldn’t play with friends, go to the supermarket with his brothers, or attend church. A curious child eager to take part in as many activities as possible, Mihai was isolated from his family and friends.

Your support provided Mihai with an appropriately fitted wheelchair so he can move freely every day of the week. His new wheelchair has quick release rear wheels and fold down seats that make it easily transportable.

On behalf of Mihai and his family, thank you so much for providing Mihai with the appropriately fitted wheelchair he needs to navigate life and all that mobility offers: access to education, independence, community, and so much more than movement.
