Prosthetics Outreach Foundation

ALTSO's program in Sierra Leone is in partnership with the Prosthetics Outreach Foundation, founded in 1989. POF creates opportunities for children and adults in developing countries who suffer from limb loss and limb deformities to lead more fulfilling lives.

Through ALTSO's support, POF will help eradicate neglected clubfoot - one of the leading causes of disability in the developing world - in Sierra Leone. ALTSO's sponsorship of training for 60 healthcare workers in Bombali District to identify and correct clubfoot in babies will give local medical professionals the skills they need to continue our work, and will simultaneously treat 40 babies born with the condition.

Our program will increase awareness of the importance of early diagnosis and prompt correction of clubfoot, helping to prevent a lifetime of painful mobility for children in Sierra Leone.
