Paola is a vibrant middle schooler whose best subject is English. She wants to become a lawyer when she grows up, because she is passionate about correcting injustices. Paola was born with a congenital defect that made her unable to stand upright and walk. Her knees were badly calloused from her crawling about on them. In September of 2006, both of Paola's legs were amputated and allowed to heal thoroughly. Then last year, A Leg To Stand On arranged for her to get new light weight artificial legs at Fundacion Casa de Colombia. Her teachers gave her time off from school while she got accustomed to her new devices.
Paola says that she is very happy and very grateful for the help she has received and that her dream has been realized. Paola says, "Thanks to everyone for all of the good and marvelous things you have given and I hope that you continue with this generous heart and may God bless you!"

Meet Satish, a 13 year old boy with a sparkling personality who loves to paint, dance and speed around on his bicycle. He makes his home in the Born Free Art school which rescued him from fending for himself on the streets of Bangalore, India. He was bitten by a dog when very young, the wound was untreated and festered to such an extent that his lower leg had to be amputated. He is a cheerful chap, never self pitying, responsible and good natured, full of smiles and dimples.
