Impact Foundation Bangladesh
Since its inception in 1993,  our new partner project, Impact Foundation Bangladesh, has helped thousands of people in rural areas get quality medical attention to treat their disabilities. Their mandate is poverty alleviation through the prevention and cure of disability in the poorest communities in Bangladesh. This year ALTSO is assisting their outreach efforts in Chuadanga, an interior area southwest of the capital, Dhaka, where they have a hospital and the only prosthetics workshop in the region to assist children with limb disabilities. We will help several hundred children get physiotherapy and assistive devices to help them successfully address their limb conditions to enhance mobility.
Impact Foundation Bangladesh also operates a professionally-staffed three-storied boat, "Jibon Tari" (Boat of Life), to provide specialized curative services, both clinical and surgical, to address disability in people from the remote riverine areas of the country. The pontoon has consultation rooms and a fully equipped operation theater where resident doctors and visiting specialists perform surgeries on patients. Every few months the boat is moved to a new location to extend medical services to yet another rural community.
